First Annual ‘Green Pond Cardboard Box Boat Regatta’

If there is one thing I can say about the Community of Green Pond is that in all the places I have lived, I have NEVER seen more community spirit than with Green Ponders.

Evidently, this summer a couple of very fun Green Ponders were sitting around thinking about new and different activities we could do as a community that include everyone from children to adults. (I guess because the 85 other community events we have going on during the summer just isn’t enough!) In any event, someone came up with the idea of a homemade ‘Cardboard Box Boat Regatta’. Where they came up with this, I have NO idea….but as you have been able to tell from my previous posts on my blog, Green Ponders aren’t lacking creativity and they definitely aren’t afraid to have fun!

So it was that simple… The First Annual Green Pond Cardboard Box Boat Regatta was born. There really isn’t much else to say about the race, as it’s pretty self explanatory except for a few rules:

  1. The race is to be open to ALL Green Ponders of all ages…young and old
  2. The boats have to be homemade and made out of cardboard
  3. Participants have to wear life jackets… remember safety never takes a holiday!
  4. Boat racers have to successfully row out to and navigate around 3 buoys (set up by the ‘Green Pond Cardboard Box Boat Race Committee’) inside the swimming area at the Eastern end of the Big Beach & make it back to shore in one piece.

Following is the very fun documentation provided from the mornings festivities….I just HAD to share this with you!
